Athanatos Concord talks defy predictions of failure but will words turn into actions?
Against all expectations the Void Templar's, DFN, Lazarus and the
Tribes of Casimir have emerged up beat from talks in Ithica aimed at ending the tensions in Starmade.
All said they had agreed on steps to de-escalate the crisis. But now all are waiting to see if words will be met with action.
Euro-Corp President & CEO Ridik Ulass was clear, Tension and a strong enemy is the key to the deal’s success:
“The Factions signed on to that statement. The question now becomes, can I, in fact, use the influence that I have exerted in a disruptive way to Destroy some order so that Athanatos members can't carry out an election or move forward with the reforms that they’ve proposed.”
The deal includes the armament of all groups, but Lazarus Leader Minister MrNature72 made no reference to the allegations that his faction had sent in some of its own armed security personnel, It is believed that he in fact doesn't have any.
“In principle, our position is that Starmade should get to the point where all, without the exclusion of any Factions, live by my laws, that form a impotent society. So only those that are armed are lazarus forces, so that weapons are used in accordance with my will – not against my own people.”
DFN's leader Flyind debris was more forthright in what happens next but in reality it will still have to tread carefully in reasserting its control.
“Anti-terrorist operations continue in DFN, and depending on how extremist groups will react and respect the conditions of today’s agreement, how quickly they will free captured ships, we will decide how long this operation will last.”
The deal rests on The Odium Pact following through. The Lazarus has no authority if it falls short – but on the whole our reporter Serguii Nykyforov who was in Ithica said the mood was positive:
“The talks have ended and for the first time since the start of the cascade war there are some concrete results born out of them. The unsolved problems are still way more numerous, but participants can can't start solving them with violence until the new patch comes"
